Key Policy Changes

Policy Changes Effective from 19/12/2023

This details the main changes to the updated policy wording. It does not contain a record of every amendment or those made to individual client policies. Please ensure that you read in full any documentation provided in conjunction with the updated policy wording to determine the full terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions of the policy cover.

IPID changes

Under the what is insured section the following change has been made:

  • There is no longer any cover for End Supplier Failure

Under the medical section of the policy there has been a change made to the hospital benefit as below:

  • A customer no longer has to be admitted to a public facility. Both private and public admittances will be considered.
  • There has been a removal of accommodation confinement benefit

Policy wording changes

Under the medical section of the policy there has been a change made to the hospital benefit as below:

  • A customer no longer has to be admitted to a public facility. Both private and public admittances will be considered.
  • There has been a removal of accommodation confinement benefit

There is no longer any cover for End Supplier Failure. Therefore, changes have been made to the following sections of the policy:

  • Your pre-travel policy – trip disruption before you travel section
  • Your travel policy – trip disruption during your trip section
  • Making a complaint section

Policy Changes Effective from 01/10/2023

Main policy:

There is a new condition under the ‘Special Conditions’ listing of the Sports and Activities section which will affect some activities as detailed below:

  • # Pre-registered (individual or group) organised competition

There are two new definitions detailed within the policy wording as detailed below:

  • War – Armed conflict between nations, invasion, act of foreign enemy, hostilities (whether war declared or not), civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection or military or usurped power.
  • Crew – Employed staff that work and operate on a ship, aircraft or train whilst in flight/motion (this does not include ground staff or baggage handlers).

There is a new benefit under the ‘Delay and Abandonment’ section as detailed below:

  • Additional transport costs outside the UK

The ‘Delay and Abandonment’ section has been updated to include the above benefit as well as making it clearer to customers as to what their options are.

There has been a change made to point 14 under the ‘Medical Definitions’ which can be found under the ‘Medical Section’ of cover as detailed below:

  • Any claim arising as a result of you driving a motor car or riding motorcycle unless you have a full UK licence, or valid CBT certificate (DL196), are following the local safety laws and you are riding on recognised roads. In respect of motorcycling the engine capacity must be 125cc or lower, unless you have paid the additional premium and your policy schedule confirms you have the appropriate optional activity pack to include cover for activities involving motorcycles with the specified increased engine capacity). Riding/use of quad bikes and ATV’s is excluded unless you have paid the additional premium and your policy schedule confirms you have the appropriate optional activity pack to include cover for these activities. Riding/use of electronic scooters is not covered at any time.

There has been a change made to the ‘Unattended’ definition which can be found under the ‘Personal Belongings’ section, as detailed below:

  • When not in transit where you or anyone travelling with you, who has your authority to be in control of your personal baggage, are not in full view of your property, or are not able to stop a third party from taking or interfering with your property.  While in transit baggage (excluding gadgets and valuables and electronic equipment) must be held in a hold or luggage area as required by the public transport carrier

There has been a change made to point 5 under the ‘Personal Accident’ and ‘Legal Expense’ section as detailed below:

  • Any claim arising as a result of you driving a motor car or riding motorcycle unless you have a full UK licence, or valid CBT certificate (DL196), are following the local safety laws and you are riding on recognised roads. Extension policy main changes

There has been a change made to the ‘Unattended’ definition which can be found under the ‘Personal Belongings’ section, as detailed below:

  • When not in transit where you or anyone travelling with you, who has your authority to be in control of your personal baggage, are not in full view of your property, or are not able to stop a third party from taking or interfering with your property.  While in transit baggage (excluding gadgets and valuables and electronic equipment) must be held in a hold or luggage area as required by the public transport carrier

There is a new benefit under the ‘Delay and Abandonment’ section as detailed below:
